CEEP Food Quality and safety Working Group Workshop Draft Agenda
August 23 - Setpember 3, 2003

As part of the Central and Eastern Europe Initiative, the Food Quality and Safety working group will host a workshop in Ithaca in August 2003. Representatives will be coming from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Topics to be covered include an overview of the US Food Safety System; Meat Food Safety in the US;
Dairy Food Safety in the US; Food Safety in other sectors of the food industry (seafood, fruits & vegetables); Good Agricultural Practices Fruits & Vegetables; On-farm Quality Assurance Systems/New York State Cattle Health Assurance Program; Role of Risk Assessment in Food Safety; and Current Food Safety Research. The group will visit the small food processing operations & campus at the New York Agricultural Experiment Station at Geneva and will gravel to Washington, DC to visit with USDA and FDA representatives. Dr. Martin Wiedmann, Department of Food Science in CALS is directing this effort.
